Kindergarten One
For children aged 3-4
I would like to welcome you to the class page for Kindergarten 1.
KG1 is our happy and exciting Nursery class where the children begin their Branwood learning journey.
The starting point for learning is the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum set by the Department of Education .However for our Branwood children the ‘sky is the limit’, all our children are treated individually to achieve their full potential, in KG1 the children are told to ‘reach for the stars’.
The KG1 curriculum is both academic and kinesthetic. There is a high focus on reading, phonics , early writing and mathematics giving our children the firm foundations for the next stage of their learning but as Albert Einstein said “It is the supreme art of the teacher to AWAKEN JOY in creative expression and knowledge”. Here at Branwood there is joy and fun in all our learning and in KG 1 we learn something new every day.
The children also receive weekly Music , Spanish and P.E lessons from specialist teachers and relish their fortnightly Forest school sessions.
The highly qualified and experienced staff, Myself and two teaching assistants have developed a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment where the children ‘learn to love and love to learn’ in a happy, busy and purposeful environment. As a staff we pride ourselves on the positive, supportive relationships we have with our Parents ,working together to achieve the very best outcomes for our children.

Muddy!
KG1 have had a busy, happy week in school enjoying all their learning. The children had the last Forest school of the term and it was so, so muddy! Nevertheless, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They jumped in the mud, played hide and seek among the trees, planted sunflowers, made leaf soup in the mud…
