Kindergarten Two

For children aged 4-5

KG2 is our reception class. The children enter the class via the patio gate found in the playground. Mrs Dickinson welcomes everyone from 8am to our morning club sessions. The children are encouraged to put their coat and bag on their pegs and put their homework and water bottle in the appropriate trays. They then either find an activity to complete or some set morning work.

At 8.35 the children tidy up and sit on the carpet ready for the register with Mrs Boulton. The timetable of the day is discussed and then the children go to assembly or take part in a PSHEE lesson. On Friday’s there is an EYFS celebration assembly with KG1 (nursery).

KG2 Teacher Interact
During the morning the children will take part in phonics, literacy and maths lessons. In the afternoon the children are encouraged to challenge themselves in the provision.

The children receive lessons from specialist teachers. On a Monday they have a music lesson, Thursday PE and Friday it is Spanish.

The children are heard read three times a week. We use Learning Book to record any observations of the children, and these are shared with parents.

Parents are encouraged to contact Mrs Boulton via the class dojo, email, by telephone or at the beginning or end of the school day.

Homework

Each night, the children will be sent home a sheet to complete and return the following day. The children should also read every night. They have spelling homework which is given out on a Thursday and tested the following Thursday.

Here are some clips which may help with their phonics:
